Stockholm, Wisconsin | Summer Wedding

I remember my first trip to Pepin, Wisconsin so clearly. At the time, my husband and I were newly married, still in that season of saying “yes” to spontaneous little adventures. Our two girls hadn’t come along yet, and our weekends were often filled with exploring small towns and scenic drives.

One weekend we made the trip from La Crosse to Pepin. It’s one of those charming little river towns that feels like it’s been quietly waiting for you. We wandered through downtown Pepin and the neighboring small towns, popping into shops and taking our time the way you do when the day has nowhere it needs to rush to.

Somewhere along the way we found the most charming little hat shop. The kind of place you almost walk past if you aren’t paying attention — but once inside, it feels like a hidden treasure.

My husband spotted it immediately: the most elegant, oversized pink hat. Dramatic and completely over the top. Naturally, he insisted I wear it to dinner. Looking back now, it feels like such a perfect memory from that season of life. Pepin has held a special place in my heart ever since.

Fast forward a decade later, and I found myself driving back to Pepin again — this time with cameras and gear in hand.

I had the joy of photographing a beautiful summer wedding for Sarah and Landry at the stunning Maidenwood, located just outside of Pepin in the charming town of Stockholm, Wisconsin.

Their wedding day was filled with sunshine and joy from beginning to end. The kind of day where everything feels light and happy and full of love. It was truly an honor to capture the entirety of their day — the quiet moments, the laughter, the celebration.

We ended the evening with a dance party under the sunset, music playing and everyone soaking in those final golden moments of the day.

I’m always so grateful to photograph wedding days. Being trusted to document a couple’s memories — moments that will live on for decades — is something I never take lightly.

And it felt extra special that this story brought me back to Wisconsin.

Some places just have a way of calling you back. Enjoy these photos!
